CVS Health Corporation provides integrated health services in the United States across three main segments:

  • Health Care Benefits: Offers traditional, voluntary, and consumer-directed health insurance products and services. Clients include employers, individuals, students, part-time workers, health plans, government units, labor groups, and expatriates.

  • Pharmacy Services: Provides pharmacy benefit management (PBM) solutions such as plan design, formulary and network management, mail-order and specialty pharmacy, infusion services, and medical spend management. Serves employers, insurers, unions, government entities, and individuals. Operates specialty pharmacy stores, mail-order pharmacies, compounding pharmacies, and infusion service branches.

  • Retail/LTC: Sells prescription and OTC drugs, consumer health and beauty products, and offers health care services through MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics. Also provides prescription drug distribution, pharmacy consulting, and services to long-term care facilities and care settings.

As of December 31, 2021, CVS operated ~9,900 retail locations, 1,200 MinuteClinic locations, LTC pharmacies, onsite pharmacies, and online pharmacy platforms.

Formerly known as CVS Caremark Corporation, the company was renamed CVS Health Corporation in 2014.

Founded in 1963, it is headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
